F.A.Q - Frequently Asked Questions...
| Q: How does the display board Grippit™? | ||
A: Your media (paper, card, laminate or tiles etc) simply slide into the patented grip strips. We have produced a basic (5 Sec) video clip to demonstrate, please CLICK HERE to view it. (650kb MPG) |
||
| Q: Whats wrong with a pin/magnetic board and why do I need to Grippit™? | ||
A: Pins will rust, however notices that are gripped have no unsightly brown tacks! Magnets and Pins need replacing! Pins fall out! Magnets get stolen! Pins are dangerous if swallowed or stood on! Pins are unhygienic and can collect dirt! Gripped notices self-align and look neat and professional. Pinned notices look untidy! Pins can be difficult to remove! Pin boards rot and fade. Pin boards are porous and can be stained. Pin boards are difficult to clean and are therefore more unhygienic. Over time pin boards look drab, GRIPPIT™ boards stay colourful and always look new! Don't take our word for it. Read our Testimonials - CLICK HERE |
||
| Q: How does the board Grippit™ work? | ||
| A: Rows of aluminium slats with integral rubber strips that hold your media using pressure and friction. Sliding the notice into the rubber strip pushes the rubber back and when realeased the rubber returns to its normal position, therefore adding pressure against the top 10mm of the media. | ||
| Q: Can I display laminates? | ||
A: YES you can. The GRIPPIT™ board will display a variety of thicknesses. The alpha-numeric tiles that are used for the tile signs are 0.75mm thick. You can hold approximately 10-15 sheets of paper, thats nearly 3mm thick! Because laminates are rigid and long, they will more than likely stick out from the board. To solve this problem either purchase a GRIPPIT™ with a screen or simply score the top 10mm and bend a little. |
||
| Q: You claim the Grippit™ display behaves like an extra desktop, what do you mean? | ||
A: In an office environment, pin boards have traditionally been used to display notices for a length of time. However with a GRIPPIT™ display, media can be inserted and removed very quickly! Because of this unique system, a GRIPPIT™ display can be used for extra workspace. They become a valuable tool that assists your admin/paper work because documents can be kept out of the way and therefore your desktop stays organised. |
| Q: Is the Grippit™ display Vandal Proof? | ||
| A: GRIPPIT™ displays are probably the toughest notice boards available! But no matter how strong things are, devious people can always find ways to cause damage. Anything that is visible and accessible to the General Public can potentially be vandalised. We like to think our notice boards are VANDAL PROOF, but we can only advertise them as 'vandal resistant'! Therefore please be wary of any other product that claims to be VANDAL PROOF! | ||
| Q: What protection is there against vandals and graffiti? | ||
| A: If your GRIPPIT™ display becomes vandalised we can provide most spare parts. The frames and posts are relatively easy to clean using special cleaners ('Meths'). If you are situating the display in an open accessible place that is easily available to the general public, then we recommend Screen 3 (Maximum Protection). If situated in a private area, that is relatively sheltered and secure; then we recommend Screen 2 (Medium Protection) or Screen 1 (Light Protection). | ||
| Q: Do you offer a 10 Year Guarantee? | ||
| A: Due to the vandalism elements mentioned above, we cannot offer a 10 year guarantee. However, the GRIPPIT™ display panels have been looking good for over 15 years now! If they become damaged, you can easily order replacement panels and most spare parts. | ||
| Q: What level of fire rating are your Grippit™ notice boards? | ||
| A: Because GRIPPIT™ boards are made from aluminium, they have a very high fire resistance! Aluminium is an alloy (metal) and is NOT FLAMABLE. Although never tested, it should resist most fires as the melting point of aluminium is 1220.58 °F. | ||
| Q: Which Grippit™ notice board is weather resistant? 1 of 3 | ||
A: ALL of our GRIPPIT™ displays are weather resistant. The displays are made from aluminium, so they are ALL rust resistant and will not rot or fade like inferior fabric or cork boards. In the past we have supplied GRIPPIT™ displays to be mounted outside without any rain protection (No Screen) whatsoever. In those cases moist of the customers have purchased our laminators. Due to the 3 different styles of screen cover we manufacture, the real question is... How much rain protection do you require? |
||
| Q: Which Screen offers the most rain protection? 2 of 3 | ||
Screen 3 offers the most protection because it is an integral unit (the screen door sits inside the unit.) It has internal weather proof strips and is a heavier fully sealed unit. Screen 2 displays can be adapted to be even more water tight by adding weather proof strips and other rain deflector parts +ADP. However, due to the lighter weight of a Screen 2 display, we do not recommend them for very exposed locations (i.e by the sea). The standard (non-adapted) Screen 1 is only slightly water tight. However we can also make additional changes to these units +ADP, such as a rain canopy on the top that will make it deflect the rain even more. For more technical information about our levels of rain protection, see below... |
||
| Q: What do you mean by Water Tight? 3 of 3 | ||
A: Because all of our displays are weather resistant, we simplify WATER TIGHTNESS with... What are the chances of my media getting wet? As a general rule, the chance of the media getting wet, breaks down as follows... |
||
MAXIMUM - SCREEN 3 |
MEDIUM - SCREEN 2 |
LIGHT - SCREEN 1 |
S3 (Wall Mount) = 0.1% S3 (Post Mount) = 0.2% |
Adapted S2+ADP (Wall) = 1% Adapted S2+ADP (Post) = 2% Standard S2 (Wall) = 3% Standard S2 (Post) = 6% |
Adapted S1+ADP (Wall) = 4% Adapted S1+ADP (Post) = 8% Standard S1 (Wall) = 40% Standard S1 (Post) = 50% |
PLEASE NOTE: The figures above are set against the Worse Case Scenario... I.e Middle of a field / No surrounding cover / Wind Against / No Shelter Above etc As you can see from the guide above, there is very little chance of the media getting wet with Screen 3 or any of the adapted +ADP screen displays. Also, the percentages will be dramatically reduced if the displays are mounted more defensively (i.e under cover, behind a wall or inland etc.) Don't forget that we can also provide A3 and A4 laminators that will further protect your media! Therefore the main decisions you will probably have to make are really about the security aspects. 1) What is the surrounding area like for vandals? 2) Do the general public have 24hr access? |
||
| Q: Can I use my GRIPPIT™ display as a sign? | ||
A: YES, but it's better than that! Traditionally signs have been permanent fixtures and if the information needed changing then the only way was to buy a NEW sign again! With a GRIPPIT™ display this is unnecessary! You simply swap the tiles (letters) or picture tiles around to suit whatever the promotion, advertisement or information happens to be at any time! |
||
| How do the TILE SIGNS™ work? | ||
A: Instead of paper media, TILE SIGN™ media is simply a coloured rectangular aluminium tile with a contrasting coloured vinyl letter applied... GRIPPIT™ boards display media in rows, therefore the tiles will self align. Multiple combinations of letters and picture tiles can be achieved, therefore spelling out and displaying ANY information you desire at ANY given time! The tiles are coloured to exactly match the colour of your GRIPPIT™ board. As a result, from just a short distance, the display will look just like a traditional sign. Contrasting coloured tiles can also be used to add bold statements or make headings stand out! CLICK HERE FOR MORE EXAMPLES |
||
| Q: What are your lead / delivery times? | ||
A: For a non-standard coloured GRIPPIT™ display it is 7-10 days. For Screen 1 and 2 displays, it is 2-3 weeks and for Screen 3, it is 3-4 weeks. Lead times vary depending upon quantities and the amount of customisation (colours & graphics etc). We are constantly improving our manufacturing process and we always try to keep stock of common sizes and colours. If it is in stock, we can supply it to you within 5 days. GRIPPIT™ displays are 100% QUALITY! |
||
| Q: No next day delivery! Why are your lead times longer than your competitors? | ||
| A: Don't confuse a GRIPPIT™ display board with an old fashioned pin board! GRIPPIT™ displays are MODERN and are TOTALLY UNIQUE! You can only buy a GRIPPIT™ board from ourselves. Unlike inferior pin board displays imported from Eastern Europe or The Far East, every GRIPPIT™ board is cut, drilled, coloured and assembled here on 'good old' Lancashire soil! 100% of the manufacturing process is performed using U.K suppliers, services and staff. | ||
| Q: I'm struggling with ordering, why so many codes? | ||
A: We want your display board to attract the attention your information deserves. Therefore we have provided many additional extras for you to customise your display... The basic units (i.e without extras or colours) are pretty straight forward. GP(S) = G for Grippit; P for Portrait and (S) for Small size. This unit has no screen. GLS1(M) = G for Grippit; L for Landscape; S1 for Screen 1 option and (M) for Medium size. It is only when adding optional extras that the real confusion may occur. Extras begin with a '+' +CS = C is for Coloured and S is for the Grippit Slat panel display board. Eventually the coding system will be built into a WYSIWYG page (What You See Is What You Get). The website will feature an easy to use, self-designing section. With a few clicks of the mouse you will be able to see an illustration of the finished unit. You will then be able to print it and send it to us as an order or enquiry. |
||
| Q: The Grippit™ system is too modern. I just want a plain pin board! What code do I use? | ||
A: Due to the reasons mentioned above, we feel that Grippit boards should be used instead of traditional pin boards. In future we will be phasing out the old fashioned pin board altogether. At present though, we are able to supply pinboards for use with just the basic model (no protection). Our Pin boards are self-healing and made from recycled newsprint. They come in a variety of colours. PL(S) = P for Pin Board; L for Landscape and (S) for Small size. This particular unit has no screen. |
||
| Q: What carrier do you use for your deliveries? | ||
| A: We us a combination of Nightfreight and TNT. For an extra charge you can request a more specific time of delivery. Grippit U.K Ltd charges the same for delivery as our courier charges us. | ||
| Q: Do you offer installation? | ||
A: Yes. However we have designed the GRIPPIT™ boards to be EASILY INSTALLED BY 1 PERSON. For the post mounted option, an additional person may be required to help lift and support. Due to Health and Safety laws, we must first perform a site survey for all post mounted units +V. Grippit UK Ltd have a limited amount of manpower, therefore our installation service depends upon the quantity and the distance (typically 150 mile radius). If the distance is out of our range, we can subcontract the installation work to a professional team more local to yourselves. For more information and pricing, please ask our sales staff. |
||
| Q: How do you package the Grippit™ notice boards? | ||
A: All Screened GRIPPIT™ boards arrive in wooden boxes/crates. Simply remove the screws on one side and lift the lid to reveal the bubble wrapped and foam protected contents. They are overly packaged this way firstly due to the weight and secondly to prevent damage to the mitred corners and hinge. When you receive the package, immediately check for any signs of damage. Since Summer 2005 we have had a 100% undamaged record. |
